Configure channel details, manage membership lists, delete channels, and adjust member permission policies.
Where to Go & How to Go
1. Modifying Channel Details
- Where to Go: Open Teamspace, then hover over the channel you wish to update in the channel list.
- How to Go:
- Click the three-dot options menu next to the channel name.
- Click Edit Channel.
- Modify the channel name or description as needed. (Note: Names of default channels, such as
#general, are locked and cannot be edited). - For private channels, project owners and admins can also manage the participant access list here by checking or unchecking members.
- Click Save Changes.
2. Deleting a Channel
- Where to Go: Hover over the channel in the Teamspace channel list.
- How to Go:
- Click the three-dot options menu next to the channel name.
- Click Delete Channel.
- Confirm the deletion in the confirmation prompt. The channel and all its message history will be permanently deleted.
- Note: Default channels cannot be deleted.
3. Adjusting Member Permissions (Settings Panel)
- Where to Go: Click the Setting button at the bottom of the Teamspace Channels sidebar.
- How to Go:
- A Teamspace Settings dialog will open.
- Project owners and admins can toggle the following permissions for regular team members:
- Create Channels: Allow members to create new custom channels.
- Edit Channels: Allow members to rename and edit descriptions of custom channels.
- Delete Channels: Allow members to delete custom channels.
- Toggling a setting updates the permissions immediately for all project members. Regular members can view these settings but cannot toggle them.
